Trans Baviaans

The Trans Baviaans biking event is one of the highlights on the mountain biking calendar.

This mountain bike race is a perfect combination of challenging cycling and spectacular scenery in one of the most exquisite mountain ranges, capturing the essence of Baviaanskloof. It is a true test of endurance.

The event is a team event, consisting of 2,3 or 4 cyclists per team. This concept is very different to other MTB races. The entire route is unmarked and tests the orientation skills of each rider. The teamwork needed for this race makes it an unforgettable experience.

The distance of the race is 230km from Willowmore to Jeffreys Bay and must be completed in 24 hours in order to qualify for a medal.

The community of Willowmore looks forward to this date on the calendar and bedrooms in peoples homes are opened up to accommodate participants for this event. Kitchens prepare good breakfasts at 4am in the morning before waving the cyclists off on their way.

Boerbok Rally

The Boerbok Rally is an annual event that takes place towards the end of October.  Bikers are hosted mainly at the Willowmore Showgrounds.  Bikers from various clubs, mostly George, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and Gqerberha gather for a funfilled weekend.
Some of the riders treat the towns folk to a display of biking skills (and speed) on the Saturday morning through the main street of the town.....the donuts on the tarred road are testiment of this.

A somewhat noisy weekend but one filled with loads of fun and excitement for Willowmore.
